Application

The new portable gauge was espcially designed for non-destructive coating thickness measurement of paint, varnish, plastics and other insulation coatings applied on wood, plastics, glass, ceramics etc. as well as for polymer layers on metals. As a special feature, the gauge offers the possibility to measure the total thickness as well as the individual layers of a multi-layer system in only one measuring process.

Measuring Procedure

When the probe is placed on the coated surface, it sends sound pulses which penetrate the coating through to the base material. Provided the coatings and the substrate possess different acoustic properties, these pulses are reflected by the different surfaces and transmitted to the transducer in the probe. The various time intervals are measured and calculated by a microprocessor to give indivual and total coating thickness. The time to obtain a reading is approx. two seconds or less. If the portable MiniPrint printer is connected all readings and statistical data can be printed out in individual memories and batches.

Description

The single pole probe is connected to the gauge by a 1 meter cable. The newly developed probe tip is made from very hard and wear resistant material which guarantees virtually unlimited life provided it is handled correctly.

Technical data and product features
for MiniTest 600 / Minitest 600-B:
( MiniTest 600-B: Basic version without statistics and interface)
Application

This compact, practical hand-held gauge has been designed for nondestructive, fast and precise coating thickness measurement.
Depending on the gauge type bought (see delivery schedule) measurements can be taken on:

    * all non-magnetic coatings (e.g. paints, enamels, chrome, zinc etc.) on steel
    * all insulating coatings (anodising, paint coatings, ceramics) on all non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, austenitic stainless steel.

The gauge has especially been designed for use in the field of industrial corrosion prevention.
Readings as well as statistical values can be documented with the portable MiniPrint data printer.

Description

The single pole probe is connected to the gauge by a 1 meter cable. The newly developed probe tip is made from very hard and wear resistant material which guarantees virtually unlimited life provided it is handled correctly.
The gauge is supplied with:

    * a magnetic-inductive probe for measurements on steel (F) or an eddy current probe for measurements on non-ferrous metals (N) or an universal probe for measurements on all metal substrates (FN)
    * backlight in the display.

New! The newly designed automatic mode for the universal FN probe always ensures accurate readings whether the base material is ferrous or non-ferrous metal (only with MiniTest 600, not with MiniTest 600-B).
